In the name of balance, Trump failures listed

DEAR EDITOR:

A recent edition of The Vindicator contained two letters singing praises of former President Trump and enumerating some of his accomplishments. I request equal time to remind readers what I consider Trump’s “baker’s dozen” of misdeeds, failures and broken promises.

1. He is the only president to have been impeached twice while in office.

2. He advised us to cleanse our innards with Clorox to avoid being infected with COVID-19.

3. He took top secret government documents from the White House.

4. He authorized separation of children from immigrant families at our southern border and lost track of some 1,500 children.

5. He threw paper towels to hurricane victims in Puerto Rico.

6. He chose to believe Russian President Putin over our country’s intelligence agencies.

7. He withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accord, the Iran Nuclear Agreement and the World Health Organization.

8. He pardoned close associates (e.g. Manafort, Bannon, Flynn), some of whom have been found guilty of crimes.

9. He insulted our veterans and Gold Star families.

10. He and his supporters filed 62 lawsuits seeking to overturn results of the 2020 election, but ended up losing 61 of them.

11. He said he would deport 700,000 young immigrants and end DACA. SCOTUS ruled against him.

12. He called Democrats “fascists” in a 2020 speech.

13. And last, but not least, Trump pleaded the Fifth Amendment more than 400 times after he left office.
