Taxpayers should not foot bill for pensions

DEAR EDITOR:

The Aug. 3 Vindicator had an interesting editorial concerning Delphi pensions.

While I agree that salaried workers were treated unfairly when it came to their pensions, as opposed to the unionized workers who received theirs, there’s an important missing message in the editorial.

General Motors should have been responsible for these pensions. These workers worked for General Motors. What’s missing is the message that the American taxpayer is on the hook for this pension, as well of about 200 other union pensions, thanks to the passage of The American Rescue Plan of 2021 — wholly Democratic passed and given once again for the taxpayer to pay, whether the taxpayer approved or disapproved.
