Openness instills voter confidence
DEAR EDITOR:
If there ever was a local government office that requires transparency, credibility and confidence, it should be the Board of Elections!
The recent controversy involving the appointment of the deputy director is cause for great concern, and never would have been exposed but for the efforts of The Vindicator, who “hobbled” the process.
The taxpayers, citizens and voters of Mahoning County are entitled to know what happened and why it happened — even if it requires a full investigation by the appropriate local, state or federal agency.
