COVID-19 lockdown brings high price

DEAR EDITOR:

With any COVID-19 lockdown, there’s a price to pay.

Brave nurses have spoken up to say patient safety is at stake. With President Biden’s mandate, good nurses are being told they could lose their jobs, and hospitals are willing to settle for second best or less-experienced staff members. Family members are told they can’t visit to keep an eye on the patient in this obvious nurse shortage.

Nursing homes have it worse. Most elderly abuse happens during lockdowns. Most nursing homes are being forced to hire out from other nursing homes, which can cause exhaustion in those working multiple jobs. Again, family members are kept out, along with volunteers who wish to help out the overly tired staff.
