It’s time to stop fighting no-win wars

DEAR EDITOR:

The bold headline that recently appeared in a western Pennsylvania newspaper stated, “Withdrawal saddens mom who lost son in Afghanistan.”

All mothers, fathers and families have my sincere condolences for their military loss.

When are the American people going to get tired and disgusted of the many years and trillions of taxpayer dollars fighting these “no-win wars?”

We invaded Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Libya and Afghanistan, all to no avail.

In these extended wars, American contractors — Haliburton, Bechtel and Blackwater — make billions of dollars, and our military come home in caskets, no arms or legs, or with serious mental problems.

These people don’t want anybody in their country. In fact, you might recall we armed the Afghan fighters with stinger missiles to kick Russia out of Afghanistan and didn’t help to rebuild their infrastructure like we did in Germany and Japan. Hello, the Taliban.

Here’s another good example: England has been in the Middle East fighting no-win wars since King Richard’s holy war Crusades, and they still haven’t learned their lesson. Will we?

Let these Middle Eastern countries solve their own tribal problems, like we did with England, now an ally.

England called George Washington a terrorist; we called him a patriot.

We would not tolerate any country coming into America telling us what to do or threatening us. If they did, we would know what to do with them, period — foreign or domestic.

America should mind its own business. As you can see, we have enough serious problems of our own, and U.S. President Joe Biden is not one of them.
