Stand up for our historical truths

DEAR EDITOR:

I can’t believe some educators want to use the 1619 Project in their lesson plans. There was no America then.

In 1609, Virginia was not a state, only a charter run by James I with the London Company. It became a state June 25, 1788. New Jersey was a Dutch settlement in 1618 and became a state Dec. 18, 1787. New Hampshire became a state June 21, 1788. Massachusetts was a charter in 1629 and made a state Feb. 6, 1788; Maryland a charter in 1632 from Charles I and attained statehood April 28, 1788. Delaware was a Swedish charter in 1638 and became a state Dec. 7, 1787.

Ohio had France and Britain fighting over us. We got our freedom from them after the American Revolutionary War through the Treaty of Paris of 1783. Ohio became a territory in 1799, and four years later in 1803, statehood.

Why are they destroying our history, deceiving our children with these lies that we are all racist and that we hate each other? We have to fight back against this evil thinking. We have to stand up for America’s truth.
