Don’t paint people with broad brush

DEAR EDITOR:

If you ever heard of the famous artist M.C.Escher, you would know that a number of his paintings can be interpreted from how you look at them. As always, the same can be said of many of your “conservative” columnists. I am writing about the large brush that syndicated columnist Erick Erickson uses. He complains that the “liberals” paint all the Capitol rioters with the same stroke. He claims that all Democrats do this too.

The sword usually has a double-edged blade and can be used like a brush. Republicans and their cohorts try to paint “the other side” as against all police and law and order. That brush is very wide. We are all “anti-Americans.” We are all for illegals entering this country and much more.

Sadly, many of your readers share this tilted viewpoint. I am a “liberal” and a lifelong, proud Democrat. I am not anti-police, and I have some “conservative” viewpoints. Many of my Republican acquaintances and family have no trouble labeling black Americans with derogatory words. Immigrants want to destroy the U.S. Non-Catholics in their eyes are all terrorists.

Please take time to look at “the other angle” when looking at any person.
