Recognize Tressel for contributions to Valley

DEAR EDITOR:

I am writing to ask the people of the Mahoning Valley to help find a way to recognize what Jim Tressel has done for Youngstown State University and the Mahoning Valley.

I have written Mayor Brown to consider renaming Fifth Avenue from the YSU Stadium to downtown Youngstown “Tressel Way” or “Tressel Boulevard.”

There eventually will be a statue of coach Tressel in his sweater vest somewhere on the campus. Berea named a street that went by Baldwin Wallace stadium in honor of Tressel’s dad. Tressel Street was named to recognize the contributions his dad had given to football and the university.

The leadership that coach gave the football program and the university as president are not measurable in relation to the potential for growth and a positive future.

I encourage those who agree with this promotion, to contact to Mayor Brown.
