Consider threats as domestic terrorism

DEAR EDITOR:

The scene at the Capitol was shocking to many people, but I was not surprised. Public and election officials and their families have received death threats. People have been killed or injured at other demonstrations. We wondered what else Trump would do before he left office. Would death threats be carried out? Would he start a war?

This went on way past where it should have. The 25th Amendment to the Constitution should be invoked immediately, removing Trump from office. Tell me, are we living in Venezuela or America?

Trump stated he doesn’t like heroes, yet he tries to be one. Wearing a flag on your lapel doesn’t make you a hero. If you want to see real heroes, visit a wounded veteran or go to the grave of a veteran. There you will find those who protected our democracy.

A bill should be passed immediately that states any threat to a public official will be considered an act of domestic terrorism. Hatred has raised its ugly head far too high. It’s time to put it back in its place.
