DEAR EDITOR:

Lately there has been talk by some ethnic groups that they deserve and should receive some sort of reparations because their ancestors were forced to work as slaves in the South.

Shame on them. What makes them think they are deserving of any sort of reparations? The slaves of the South helped shape this country into what it is today. Cotton they picked was loaded on to railroads that the Chinese built, taken to the textile mills of New England where the Irish worked and made into cloth that was made into clothing.

Don’t make demands for something that you are not entitled to because if reparations were on the table, the only people entitled would be the American Indians. We stole this country from the Indian nation. I believe they are the only people deserving of reparations.

This great nation has come a long way, but still we have a long way to go. We are all in this.
