Avoid sugar, salt to help avoid contracting virus

DEAR EDITOR:

The reports say many will be infected with the novel coronavirus. The best chance of survival is to try your best to avoid the pitfalls of the virus while trying not to challenge the personal limits of your body.

The most dangerous aspect of this seems to be the overwhelming effects of congestion in the lungs. Doctors don’t all seem to agree on the process that takes place, but I strongly feel it is caused by rapid growth of the virus in the lungs, due to elevated levels of sugar in the blood.

If you start showing signs of the virus, it is important not to eat foods high in sugar or large amounts of fatty foods. I am not a doctor, but even if my theory is wrong, this would be prudent advice.

Also, to protect your heart, which will be stressed to its limits, do not add salt to your food. Some salt is critical, so your best bet is to follow the recommended daily allowance for sodium.

Finally, just because someone receives a negative test result for the virus, it doesn’t mean they have not been infected. It only means the levels of the virus have not reached the levels required for detection.
