Does Green Township really need an administrator?

DEAR EDITOR:

I was surprised to see that Green Township had approved a township administrator.

The estimated resources for the 14 townships in Mahoning County varies from $1,073,000 to $29,146,000, per the Auditor’s office.

The three townships with the highest resources, $9,840,000, $18,678,000 and $29,148,000, have full-time administrators.

The resources for Green Township are $1,755,000. Do we need an administrator? I think not!

I am familiar with the duties and responsibilities of the trustees, as I was a trustee for Green Township for a number of years.

The township would not need an administrator if the trustees would perform their duties and assume their responsibilities the way they should.

This would save the township approximately $200,000 over a 10-year period.
