Follow lead set by YSU’s president
YSU President Jim Tressel’s guest column on Thursday contained volumes of truth. He urges our area to embrace the opportunities offered to us. He made one strikingly true statement after another.
“Success breeds success,” was simple but totally correct. What he avoided saying, I suspect, was how the Valley reacted when the steel mills died. People’s anger never resolved, and it led to added failure. Yes, the loss of a GM product is another big negative. But let us learn a new reaction. Let us put aside the anger. Trying to hang on to what is no longer possible is a waste of time and energy. Pittsburgh is an example of turning around a negative and leaders finding new pathways. It has become a thriving metropolis that is great fun to visit. Jim Tressel sees the future we could have and how to get there. Follow his lead.
