Big money wants to reverse legislation

DEAR EDITOR:

I have seen and heard countless ads. People have stopped me on the street and tried to get me to sign a petition that I really did not know much about. I figured it was time to look into House Bill 6.

I try to be an informed citizen, but not many people can follow every move of the legislature, which is why we elect people to serve our interests in Columbus.

From what I can tell, House Bill 6 repeals Ohio’s Green Energy Mandates. These expensive mandates appear on all of our electricity bills and force us to finance solar and wind projects in Ohio. House Bill 6 repealed that ineffective, pie-in-the-sky mandate and replaced the fee with a smaller one that ensures the survival of Ohio’s nuclear industry. Nuclear energy production in Ohio equals thousands of jobs and about 15 percent of Ohio’s power. For those interested in clear air, nuclear results in 90 percent of Ohio’s zero-carbon emissions.

The effort to repeal this bill is funded by out-of-state oil and natural gas interests, as well as the green-energy lobby that profits from Ohio’s forced investment. They have teamed up to kill nuclear like they did coal. We cannot allow that to happen.

House Bill 6, when implemented, will result in each of us saving $60 per year. It saves us money, ensures clean energy production and saves thousands of Ohio jobs. This is a no brainer for Ohio.

Tell the paid petition gatherers to take a hike. There are virtually no volunteers working on this repeal effort, a sign that the repeal is all about big money interest and not us.
