David Aey 1963-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — David Aey, 62, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, unwavering loyalty and unconditional love for his family, friends and community.
Born with a servant’s heart, David dedicated his life to protecting and helping others. A proud United States Marine, he honorably served as a Mahoning County Sheriff’s deputy, was a member of the U.S. Marshals Task Force and was the part owner of Ludt’s Towing. Throughout his life and career, David earned the respect of those around him through his integrity, courage and steadfast commitment to serving others.
David was the devoted husband of his beloved wife, Diedra Aey, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories. He was a loving father to Loren Ragland, Will Sutton (Dakota), Samara Jackson (Christian), David J. Aey (Kaden) and Tyler Aey.
Affectionately known as “Papa,” David treasured every moment spent with his nine grandchildren — Neiko, Orion, Nyla, Peace Hope Joy, Amyrah, Mercy, Willow, Brinley and Savior. He also shared a special bond with his faithful companion, Maizy.
David was known for being fearless, dependable and fiercely loyal. He was the kind of man who did not simply offer help — he showed up. His honesty, integrity and deep Christian faith guided every aspect of his life.
He also leaves behind many additional family members: four brothers, Edward, Fred, Rodney and Scott Aey; a sister, Susan Aey-Tyler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former colleagues and members of the community whose lives were touched by his friendship, guidance and generosity.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferd and Sally Ludt Aey.
Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void, David’s legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the memories he created. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
