Rosalie Nolfi 1938-2026

LOWELLVILLE — Rosalie Nolfi, 87, passed away peacefully at Hospice House Friday evening, Feb. 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Rosalie was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Youngstown, the daughter of Sam and Rose LePore Traino.

She was a 1956 graduate of Chaney High School.

She worked for the Chaney Board of Education, at the Sears Accounting Center, and was a dedicated member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.

Rosalie had many roles she cherished, but few compared to the joy she felt setting a table to fill with her family. Her table was as big as her heart, as she filled it with her famous sauce and meatballs, chocolate zucchini bread and mint brownies. Her kitchen was always ready to make a hot bowl of pastina, guaranteed to cure even the worst day.

Her loving husband, Fred Nolfi, whom she married Nov. 29, 1958, passed away May 1, 2019.

Rosalie will be remembered lovingly by her two sons, David (Cindy Kibby) Nolfi of New Middletown and Fred (Tina Minniti) Nolfi of Lowellville; nine grandchildren, Laura (T.J.) Cotterman, Jennifer (Jon) Barth and David Nolfi Jr., Fred, Rosalie (Nick) Benson, Cody and Carina Nolfi, and Jena and Marisa Benzenhoefer; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Restino; a brother, Vincent (Pam) Traino; sister-in-law, Virginia Traino; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her husband, Fred, and parents, Rosalie was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Nolfi; eight sisters, Lena Caimano, Mary Mester, Ann Sibeto, Frances Reents, Antoinette Simon, Connie Iaconis, Joann Leardi and infant Frances; and three brothers, Joseph, Ralph and Sam Traino.

Friends and family may call 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.

Funeral services will begin at noon Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.
