Clifford A. Hodory 1946-2026
Clifford A. Hodory
YOUNGSTOWN – Clifford A. “Cliff” Hodory, 79, a generous, hardworking and deeply loved man, passed away surrounded by the legacy of family, friendship and a life well lived, Saturday morning, March 21, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.
Cliff was born Sept. 10, 1946, in Youngstown, and was a proud graduate of Chaney High School and Youngstown State University, where he built the foundation for a long and dedicated career.
He began his working life at the blast furnace of U.S. Steel, later serving as a maintenance supervisor at General Motors in Lordstown, where his leadership and work ethic left a lasting impact on those around him.
He was the beloved husband of Karen Hodory and the late Gay Hodory. Cliff was a devoted son to Alexander and Ada Hodory and a twin brother to Lenard Hodory. He was a proud and loving father to Donny (Lauri) and Bobby (Carrie) and a cherished grandfather to Jacob, Luke, Alexa and Max Hodory.
Known for his big heart and easygoing spirit, Cliff would truly give the shirt off his back, often with a laugh as he preferred being shirtless anyway, to anyone in need. His humor, generosity and kindness were constants in the lives of those who knew him.
Cliff loved the outdoors from an early age, playing baseball as a child and fishing in the goldfish pond at Mill Creek Park. Throughout his life, he found joy in hunting, fishing and relaxing by a campfire with a cold beer in hand, surrounded by friends and family. His time spent in the Pennsylvania mountains at Tionesta shooting chipmunks, sharing stories and unwinding by the fire was truly his happy place.
A proud contributor to the many pensions and vacations of employees of the Genesee Beer Company, Cliff enjoyed life with a sense of humor and camaraderie that made every gathering memorable. He especially loved golfing in the Catholic War Veterans outings at Lynden Hall Golf Course, where his presence, along with his legendary stories, will not be forgotten.
Cliff was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and a dedicated member of the Youngstown Lodge. He spent many years with the Shriners Circus and remained active at the Calla Road Masonic Lodge, where he enjoyed socializing, fishing and volunteering his time. His commitment to brotherhood and service reflected the values he lived by every day. He also cherished time spent with friends at the AUP Club and the CWV Club on the West Side of Youngstown, where laughter and stories were always in abundance.
Cliff had a special place in his heart for every dog he ever shared a home with, growing to love each one more than the last.
Cliff will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his loyalty to his friends, his humor and his ability to find joy in the simple things. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. … Rest easy, Cliff.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no funeral services or calling hours.
He will be laid to rest in Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown.
