Faith D. Poor 1927-2026

BOARDMAN — Faith D. Poor, 98, formerly of Midway Drive in New Middletown, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Faith was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Albion, Illinois, to the late Rolland Wilford and Allatha Belle Moody Dunlap. She graduated from Albion Community High School in 1945.

Faith spent many years building a career in the banking industry, beginning as a part-time teller and advancing to become a personal banking officer with American Bank and Trust in Rock Island, Illinois, before retiring in 2002. After relocating to the Mahoning Valley, she continued her dedication to service by volunteering as a poll worker for the Mahoning County Board of Elections for more than a decade, something she took great pride in.

A woman of deep faith, Faith was a member of Gospel Baptist Church in Poland and a former member of Cornersburg Baptist Church. As a young child, she was concerned that her parents had not given her a middle name and asked her mother why they had not. Her mother’s response was, “If you have faith, that is all you need.” That simple explanation became the theme of her life.

She found great joy in music — especially church music — and loved to sing in worship. As a pastor’s wife for over 60 years, she faithfully supported her husband’s ministry and the many congregations they served. Faith also spent time as a Mary Kay consultant, enjoying the opportunity to connect with and encourage others.

Above all else, Faith was devoted to her family. She cherished her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, and nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her quieter moments, she expressed her creativity through oil painting, tended lovingly to her flower gardens, and delighted in watching and feeding the birds in her yard. She also loved decorating her home, particularly during the holidays, filling every space with warmth, beauty and care — just as she did with the people in her life.

Faith is survived by her children, Janice ( the Rev. Ronald) Royalty of Struthers and Gregory Poor of Libertyville, Illinois; her seven grandchildren, Adam (AnneRose) Poor, Joel (Deena) Royalty, Jason (Melody) Royalty, Joshua Royalty, Rebekah (Bret) Wiley, Melissa (Tim) Bonney and Diana (Chris) Stivers; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a sister, Ethelee Bunfill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the Rev. Robert Poor, whom she married Jan. 11, 1946, and who died March 31, 2011; two sisters, Shirley Mae Bailey and Anna LaVange Shuler; and a brother, Rolland Wilford Dunlap Jr.

Friends and family will be received from noon to 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, at Gospel Baptist Church, 6235 Clingan Road, Poland, followed immediately by a funeral service beginning at 1 p.m., with Pastor Stephen Miller officiating.

She will be laid to rest with her husband in Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
