Barbara S. James 1967-2025

BERLIN CENTER — Barbara S. James, 58, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, at her home with her loving husband by her side.

Barbara was born in 1967 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of Raymond and Sarah Bright Stubna, and came to this area in 1991.

She was a graduate of South Fayette High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from Grove City College.

She was a homemaker. Barbara was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Boardman, the treasurer of the women’s ministry in church, and gave her time and talents as a dedicated volunteer.

Barbara enjoyed bird-watching, doing all kinds of crafts, and was a member of the Akron Area Button Club and the Buckeye State Button Society.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory is her husband, David, whom she married in 1990; her mother, Sarah of Butler, Pa.; sons, Christopher (Gina) of Pittsburgh, Joshua (Jessica) of Warren and Joel of Berlin Center; and a sister, Elizabeth (Isaiah) Stevenson of Butler, Pa.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, with a memorial service to immediately follow, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 471 Mathews Road, Boardman, OH 44512, with Pastor Mark Bell.

The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, that contributions please be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and / or the Akron Area Button Club, 3340 Burbank Road, Wooster, OH 44691-9007 in memory of Barbara.
