Florence G. Johnson 1932-2025

Florence was born March 12, 1932, in McDonald, a daughter to Glennis and Sarah Cluse Mattison.

Florence was a nursing assistant at Shepherd of the Valley for 17 years, retiring in 1997.

She was a member of Girard United Methodist Church.

In her spare time, Florence loved going to bingo and cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Cleveland Guardians, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Florence leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Bill (Janice) Johnson of Hilliard, Kim (Larry) Went of Hilliard, Karen (Phil) Fisher of Girard, Kathy (Tom) Alexander of Grove City, Kara (Ross) Rankin of Louisville, Buzz (Tami) Johnson of Pataskala and Karla (Jimmy) Matig of McDonald; daughter-in-law, Donna Johnson of Raleigh, North Carolina; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson, whom she married July 7, 1951, and who passed away March 16, 1992; son, Bob Johnson; grandson, TJ Alexander; brothers, Glennis, Wylie, George, Dan, John and Bill Mattison; and sister, Sarah Beigly.

The family will receive relatives and friends 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, with a funeral service following at 6 p.m.

Florence will be laid to rest in Niles Union Cemetery.
