Michael Lebenich III 1947-2025

SAVANNAH, Ga — Michael Lebenich III passed away peacefully, Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, from a brief illness, with his “people” by his side.

Michael was born Sept. 5, 1947, to the late Mike Jr. and Mary T. Bestenec Lebenich.

Michael was raised in Campbell and was a 1965 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.

Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. After an honorable discharge in 1970, he returned to Campbell and was the owner and operator of the well-known Lebenich’s Sunoco.

He loved a good party and spending the weekends boating and camping at Shenango Lake. Michael eventually settled in Denver, Colorado, and was a baker for King Soopers / The Kroger Co.

After retiring, Michael began to travel and spent a lot of time in Bluffton, South Carolina, and spent time camping at Lake Milton and attending NASCAR races with his late brother Joey and his family (Sheri, Bree and Joe).

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, a special nephew and “Best Bud,” Joe Lebenich; his “favorite” sister-in-law, Sheri Lebenich; brother, John Lebenich; sisters, Mary (Jim) Durkee and Jeanny Zetts; nieces, Bree, Kelly, Karrie, Kristy, Lisa and Lauren; along with many great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves a great friend, Bill Ronquest, and “the coffee crew.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Mike; mother, Mary; and brother, Joey.

There will be a celebration of life service honoring Michael 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., officiated by the Very Rev. Kevin Marks.
