Kenneth T. Derkach 1950-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Kenneth T. Derkach, 74, passed away at his residence on Dec. 26, 2024.
He was born June 9, 1950, in Youngstown, the son of William Sr. and Rose Marie Zalovchick Derkach.
Kenneth was a YSU graduate and worked as a civil engineer, building new roads and bridges throughout the Ohio Valley. He was very involved in the Catholic church (Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Campbell) and regularly donated to many charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
He was a big fan of sports, following Ohio State football and basketball, but in general, he watched them all: football, baseball and basketball.
He had many hobbies; he loved building model trains and vintage cars, painting and maintaining the house and collecting stamps and coins.
He lovingly took care of his aging mother before her passing.
Kenneth is survived by his nephew, Brad Derkach, and niece, Stacey Derkach Meigs.
His parents, William Derkach Sr. and Rose Marie Derkach, preceded him in death, along with his brother, William Derkach, who passed away Jan. 21, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, 159 Reed Ave., Campbell, OH 44405.
Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery.
