Bonnie Perratto 1943-2025

LEWES, Del. — Bonnie Perratto of Lewes, Delaware, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025, in Huntingtown, Maryland, from complications of ALS.

Bonnie was born Aug. 10, 1943, in Youngstown to Evelyn George Bowen and Russell Bowen.

Bonnie happily married Anthony Perratto on Aug. 23, 1975, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Youngstown. After their marriage they chose to reside in North Massapequa, New York, where the family was a long-standing member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Farmingdale, New York.

Bonnie and Anthony worshipped at Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown and were members of both All Saints in Jensen Beach and St. Peters in Lewes.

She graduated from Poland High School in 1961 and earned her Diploma of Nursing from Youngstown Hospital Association in 1964. She was a lifelong champion of nursing, earning a Bachelor of Science from St. Francis College, Master of Business Administration and Hospital Management from Adelphi University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.

Bonnie retired from nursing in June 2017 as the chief nursing executive for Bayhealth in Dover, Delaware. Her 50 years of dedicated service to the profession of nursing spanned many hospital systems in many states: CNE for Humility of Mary Healthcare Partners (Youngstown), Vice President of Nursing for Interfaith Medical Center (Brooklyn), Director of Nursing for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, Mount Sinai Medical Center and Massapequa General Hospital (New York).

After retirement, Bonnie continued to serve as a Magnet Appraiser for American Nurses Credentialing Center for Nursing. She maintained her nursing license through 2025.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sisters, Betty (Leonard) Panella and Barbara Tate.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Anthony Perratto; her two children, Pamela (Thomas) Kreppel and Bradley Perratto; her grandchildren, Matthew, Alexander and Jennifer Kreppel; her great-grandson, Dominic; her sister, Beverly (Raymond, deceased) Boyer; brother, Richard (Phyllis) Bowen; and many nieces and nephews that meant so much to her.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon Sept. 15, 2025, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, OH 44514, with interment following in Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown. The Rev. Larry Klinker (retired) from Zion Lutheran Church in New Middletown will be officiating.

The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the many friends who have stayed in contact over the years and supported Bonnie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bayhealth Foundation (640 State St., Dover, DE 19901) where a nursing scholarship fund will be set up in Bonnie’s name. When donating, be sure to indicate that the funds are intended for the Bonnie Perratto Scholarship fund.
