Anna Marie Donnelly 1934-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Anna Marie Donnelly, 90, a lifelong resident of Youngstown’s West Side, passed away Sunday morning, July 27, 2025, at Aventura Place, after a long and fulfilling life.
Anna Marie was born Dec. 12, 1934, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Andrew and Stephanie Prejs Strauch. She was a graduate of Ursuline High School and devoted her life to raising her family. She also worked for 15 years at Dillard’s Department Store in the Southern Park Mall, retiring after a rewarding career in retail.
A longtime member of St. Brendan Church, Anna Marie was active in the Altar and Rosary Society, participated in the Mother’s Guild and volunteered in the kitchen during weekly bingo games. She also served as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the St. Brendan Bowling League at Westside Lanes.
Anna Marie leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, James (Susan) Donnelly Jr. of Canfield and Edward Donnelly of Austintown; four daughters, Brenda Cochran of Youngstown, Karen (Robert) Nalepa of Youngstown, Catherine (Andrew) Kuthy of Columbus and Annette (Thomas) Lenton of Boardman; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.
Her husband of 36 years, James E. Donnelly Sr., whom she married April 16, 1955, died Dec. 28, 1991. A daughter, Joan Inglis; a sister, Dorothy Sikora; and a brother, Edward Strauch, also preceded Anna Marie in death.
Family and friends may gather to pay respects 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2025, at St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, where Anna Marie will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
