Sandra L. Basciano 1952-2025

GIRARD — Sandra L Basciano, 72, owner of Sandi’s Mane Attraction Hair Salon in Girard, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

Sandi was born July 4, 1952, in Youngstown. She attended St. Anthony Church and elementary school. She graduated from Ursuline High School Class of 1970 and received her hairdresser’s license from Lewis Weinberger and Hill Academy of Cosmetology.

She was a professional hairdresser and ran a successful beauty salon on Liberty Street in Girard for 33 years. When she retired and sold her business she went to work at Liberty Arms Assisted Living, where she continued to care for some of her former clients.

Sandi had lifelong friends who were also co-workers with her at her salon. They all took part in fundraising events in the community, provided volunteer service to St. Anthony and St. Rose churches, and to various other animal charities throughout her career.

Father John Chrysostom Kozlowski, O.P., pastor of St. Rose Church, will say her memorial Mass 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025.

There are no calling hours and the family will greet friends after Mass.

Sandi shared her life with George Glasser and their constant companion, Buddy.

They enjoyed years of travel and retirement together between Florida and Ohio.

Sandi will be missed by George’s family: Karyn and Tom Matey, Kim Matey, Kristin Glasser and Jim Marling, along with all of the friends they have made in their Florida golf community.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Sue Liguore Basciano, and her brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Shirley Basciano.

She was known as Aunt Sandi to her family. She leaves to cherish her memory, Walter and Donna Basciano Bobeck; Joseph and Rosemarie Basciano Parisi; Joseph and Lynaia Marks, and their sons, Dominic and Vincent Marks; Joseph and Mollie Burns Parisi II, and their daughters Ellie, Lilly and Lena Parisi; her brother’s children, Carey and Shelby Sharp Basciano, and their daughters Zoey, Sydney and Piper of Hilton Head, South Carolina; Nicole Basciano of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; and Brian and Melissa Myers Basciano of Howland; and our cousin, Dr. Rocco and Nina Rushin Basciano of Williamsburg, Virginia, and their son Nick Basciano of Alexandria, Virginia.
