John M. Weller 1989-2025

HUBBARD — It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the untimely passing of John Weller on Monday, June 30, 2025.

John was born April 22, 1989, in Youngstown, a son of James T. and Ronnie L. Kollar Weller Jr.

John grew up in a loving home with his devoted, hard-working parents and shared a special bond with his older brother, Jimmy. The four of them shared so many wonderful memories together.

From a young age, John always knew what he wanted and did not stop until he got it. Obviously, he was stubborn as all get out. Anyone who knew John would also know he could eat enough food for 10 people and still be hungry. He did the best impersonations and whistled like no one ever could. His humor, and love of life and his family made everyone adore him.

Some of his hobbies, there were so many, included snowboarding, wakeboarding, hunting, tennis, watching sprint car races, traveling and, most importantly … being with his soulmate, Maria. John adored Maria and she adored John. They built such a beautiful life together.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him. John was such a special son, brother, husband, uncle and friend.

He was a graduate of Liberty High School and a graduate of Youngstown State University.

John was the vice president of Liberty Steel Industries. He was a member of St. Edward Church.

John will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his brother, James (Katie) Weller III; and nieces, Ellie and Charlie Weller. He also leaves his grandmother, Geraldine Weller; and aunts, Sue (Pete) Simpson, Jill Weller and Amy (Scott) Wagner, and Joan Bulmer; uncle, John (Chris) Kollar; cousins Katie, Joe, Mandy, Erik, Allison, Hillary, Annie, Harry, Andrew, Sophie, Janel, Michelle, Stephanie and Kelly; and nieces, Ellie and Charlie Weller, and Louisa Maria Finelli.

Beside his grandfather, James Weller Sr.; and grandparents John Kollar and Shirley Fair, he died tragically with his wife, Maria, and parents, Jim and Ronnie.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2025, at St. Columba Cathedral, with the Very Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Siffrin officiating.

Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon of the Valley Community
