Gloria Mahoney 1931-2025
POLAND — Gloria Mahoney, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, July 26, 2025.
Gloria was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of James and Angela Moore Bebackwa. She was raised on the East Side of Youngstown and graduated from East High School in 1949.
Gloria spent most of her years as a homemaker to her husband and five children. She also served as an educational assistant with the Youngstown City Schools later in life.
She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Luke Church. Gloria treasured her family time and cherished her many friendships, especially with the wonderful teachers she worked with at the school.
Gloria’s husband, Edward Mahoney, whom she married Oct. 14, 1950, passed away May 6, 2012.
Gloria will be remembered lovingly by her five children: Daniel (Barbara) Mahoney, Linda Zuschlag, Kathleen (Chuck) Briel, David (Lisa) Mahoney and Edward (Christine) Mahoney; her eight grandchildren whom she dearly loved: Jay, Erin, Christian, William, Kevin, Kelly, Angela and Colleen; 15 great grandchildren; her sister, Delores Baharis; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Besides her husband and parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her dearest granddaughter, Jill Patterson; niece, Christine Bydo; nephews, Aniello Nigro and Michael Kozak; and six sisters, Mary, Phyllis, Josephine, Marie, Rita and Kathryn.
There will be calling hours 9 to 9:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish- St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave. in Boardman, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, all at the church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave. in Boardman.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate care of Gloria.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested monetary donations to be made in Gloria’s name to Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
