Lucinda L. Fox 1954-2025

LOWELLVILLE — Lucinda Lou Fox, 71, affectionately known as “Cindy” by her loved ones, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, surrounded by her devoted family.

Born April 10, 1954, in Youngstown, Cindy was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret Newell Fox. A proud 1972 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, she remained a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley — a place she cherished and called home.

Cindy dedicated 40 years of her life to the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, primarily at the main library on Wick Avenue. Her work was more than just a job — it was a place where she connected with her community and shared her love of learning.

She was passionate about country and gospel music. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life such as watching and feeding birds in her yard. She enjoyed many family vacations traveling coast-to-coast in their motorhome.

Cindy’s heart belonged to her family, especially her beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she adored and supported with unwavering love.

Cindy leaves behind two brothers, Lawrence “Butch” T. Fox Jr. and Michael L. (Laurie) Fox, both of Lowellville; three nieces, Heidi Thompson, Beth (Matt) Mason and Becky (Bill) Gaither; two nephews, Lawrence “Butchie” T. (Amanda) Fox III and Mike (Anne) Fox Jr.; as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, and nine great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Recently, in addition to her mother, Cindy was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Kathy Fox; her lifelong friend, Marilyn Nolder; her cousin, Marlane Vulcan; and her cousin, Judy Prater, whom she referred to as her little sister.

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Cindy’s life noon to 1:45 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St. in Struthers. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ron Elkins. Cindy will be laid to rest alongside her parents in Poland Riverside Cemetery.

The Fox family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Cindy’s loving caregivers, Jessica Wildes and Barbara Finnick, and to the compassionate staff at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House for their dedicated care and kindness.
