Katherine A. Richards 1958-2025
GIRARD — Katherine Ann “Smitty” Richards, 66, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 9, 2025, in the comfort of her home.
Katherine was born Aug. 20, 1958, in Girard, a daughter to Michael and Mary Ann Stellato Richards. She was a 1977 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Katherine worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the kitchen for over 30 years.
She was a member of St. Rose Church.
In her spare time, Katherine enjoyed going to the casinos, traveling, especially to Florida to see her cousin, Julie, and playing the lottery.
She was an avid fan of Notre Dame and the Steelers.
Katherine leaves to cherish her memory her companion of over 20 years, David Mascarella; Margaret Mascarella, who cared for her; her aunts, Marguerite Bluedorn and Clarian McCloud; her longtime friend, Tracey; her cousin, Julie; and several other cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “CR” Richards.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
Katherine will be laid to rest in Girard City Cemetery.
