James W. Zarlenga 1944-2025

POLAND — James W. Zarlenga passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the age of 81.

Born May 8, 1944, in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph V. and Mary Ciolli Zarlenga, James lived a life filled with dedication, hard work and a deep love for his family.

James graduated from Kent State University in engineering. He started his career in engineering, worked many years as a salesman and finished his career as president of various companies throughout the country.

He was an avid hunter and a passionate golfer. James was known as a “jack of all trades,” with a knack for tackling any challenge that came his way. He loved passing his experiences and knowledge down to his grandchildren, no matter what time of day.

James is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy M. Testa Zarlenga, whom he married May 2, 1964; his daughter, Tina Duarte of North Lima; his son, James Zarlenga of North Lima; grandchildren, Tate (Macy Marlowe) Duarte, Arlia (Josh) Duarte-Bell, Shelby Zarlenga and Jake (Merrideth Governor) Zarlenga; great-grandchildren, Shea, Noa, Liv and Ari; his sister, Joann Santha of Boardman; and his brother, Joseph (Margaret) Zarlenga of Poland.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steve (Carol) Zarlenga; and brother-in-law, Joseph Santha.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate James’s life during a funeral service at noon Monday, June 9, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.

Calling hours will be held prior to the service, starting at 11 a.m.
