Jim retired in 2021 after over 17 years as a corrections officer at Northeast Ohio Correctional Center. During 10 of those years, he was a member of the Disturbance Control Team (DCT), an extraction team that was an elite group of officers who worked in dangerous situations up close and personal with offenders of the harshest crimes. Prior to that, Jim worked at Republic Steel, Bliss Manufacturing and as a welder. His very first job in high school was at Idora Park running The Turbo.

Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He especially loved spending time with his brother, Rick, who shared many of the same passions.

As much as he loved the outdoors, Jim also loved fast cars. He attended numerous car shows and won several first-place awards for his 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack, Buffy. His most recent purchase, his pride and joy, was his 2023 Ford Mustang 5.0 Coyote.
