Geraldine M. Walters 1944-2025

AUSTINTOWN — Geraldine M. Walters, 81, passed away peacefully, Monday afternoon, June 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Affectionately known as “Gerri,” she was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of Walter and Dorothy Peters Cable.

Gerri was educated in Pennsylvania and spent her career working as an assembler for General Motors in Lordstown, where she dedicated 30 years before retiring in 2000.

On July 8, 1996, she married John T. Walters, and together they shared nearly 29 wonderful years filled with love and cherished memories. John survives her.

Family meant everything to Gerri. She was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Austintown and found her greatest joy in caring for and cooking for her family. She was especially known for her delicious cabbage rolls and pumpkin cookies. Gerri will be remembered as a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister whose warmth and generosity touched all who knew her.

Gerri is survived by her husband, John; and her three children, Tammy Deak (Eddie Himes) of North Jackson, Steve Pechatsko of Boardman and Tony (Kristan) Pechatsko of Strongsville. She also leaves behind two stepchildren, Kenneth Walters of Mineral Ridge and Kathryn (Shawn) Kane of Duncannon, Pa. She is also survived by six siblings, Jim (Helen) Cable, Gene (Barb) Cable, Ronald (Ruth) Cable, Sharon (Mike) Korsh, Linda (Tony) Masi and Karen (Rich) Lee. Gerri was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, Tom Deak, Alyssa Deak, Katelyn Pechatsko, Quinn Pechatsko, Halley Pechatsko, Zack Harvey, Tyler Harvey, Kendra Walters and Braden Walters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob (Beverly) Cable; and two sisters, Doris Pechatsko and Darlene Schiffauer.

Family and friends may call 10 a.m. to noon Monday, June 30, at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave. A funeral service will follow at noon.

Gerri will be laid to rest in Green Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Canfield.
