Frank D. DePuy 1947-2025

CANFIELD — Frank Dwain DePuy, 77, died unexpectedly Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was born on June 24, 1947, in Marietta, the son of Glenn and Loretta Theobald DePuy.
Frank had an illustrious career, working as an engineer for Standard Transformer in Warren, Zinsco of Hampton, Virginia, and Quality Switch of Newton Falls.
His academic journey was equally impressive: he earned a double major bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and mathematics, followed by a Master’s in business from Youngstown State University. His thirst for knowledge led him to later go for a triple major in finance, management and marketing from Grand Valley State University, Michigan, and he devoted seven years to also studying theology at Malone College in Canton.
A man of faith, Frank was an active member of Austintown Community Church, where he participated in Bible Study and fostered connections within the congregation. He was also a proud member of the IEEE, reflecting his commitment to his profession and interpersonal relationships.
Frank’s personality shone brightly through his interests outside of work. He found joy in the game of golf, where he formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories. In addition to his professional and spiritual pursuits, Frank was also known for his remarkable woodworking skills — an accomplishment he held dear.
He was deeply loved and cherished by his family. Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Vinsack DePuy, whom he married on March 16, 1968; sons, Jason DePuy of Indiana, David DePuy of Canfield, Mike (Jen) Pemberton of North Jackson and Dr. Zaal (Jennifer) Paymaster of Belton, Texas, and their children, Hunter and Alyssa. He was also the adoring grandfather of six grandchildren, Brenden, Aden, Devin, Skyler, Talon and Lizzie. He is also survived by his niece, Kimberly (Scott) Bronson; and his daughter-in-law, who was more like a daughter to him, Breanne DePuy.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Glenn DePuy; and sister-in-law, Nancy DePuy.
