Bruce A. Ellis 1957-2025

BOARDMAN — Bruce Allan Ellis, a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, departed peacefully, Sunday morning, June 8, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, as a result of complications from a stroke. He passed away on his 68th birthday.

Bruce was born June 8, 1957, in Youngstown, the son of the late Herbert and Mary Lou Whiteside Ellis. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1975 and later attended Youngstown State University.

Bruce began his career working for the family business, Ellis Executive Vending, where he dedicated more than 25 years. He went on to work as a turret driver at the Toys R Us distribution center for more than 15 years until the facility closed.

Bruce was a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, an avid golfer and a passionate home cook. He will be remembered most for his strong work ethic, playful sense of humor and, above all, his unwavering love and devotion to his family.

The pride he felt for his two sons was matched only by the joy of learning he would become a grandfather later this year.

Bruce is survived by his two sons, Michael Ellis, with his wife, Edna, of Herndon, Virginia, and Matthew Ellis, with his partner, Dulcinea Ramirez-Abercrombie of Austintown; his brothers, Herbert Ellis Jr. of San Diego, California, and Lee Wayne Ellis of Poland; his sister, Sherry Raver, with her husband, Bob of Boardman; and two nephews, David Ellis, with his wife, Autumn, and their three children of North Canton, and Daniel Raver of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his niece, Susan Ellis.

Bruce’s final request was for his loved ones to enjoy an ice cream in his memory.

Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.beckerobits.com.
