BOARDMAN — Barbara Ann Boughner, 82, formerly of Youngstown’s West Side, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Aventura at Assumption Village.
Born July 16, 1942, in Youngstown, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ann Takach Hripko, and remained a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Chaney High School in 1960, married Richard Boughner May 1, 1965, and started her family.
Barbara helped establish the B&O Credit Union and worked there for several years as a bookkeeper and treasurer while raising her children. She later worked in home health care.
Barbara loved animals and, in her younger years, enjoyed bowling, decorating cakes and making ceramics.
She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Smith (Gregg Sturrus) of Ellsworth, Cynthia (David) Kritzell of The Villages, Florida, and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Galvin of Clover, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Justin Smith, Taylor Smith, Noah Smith, Andrew Kritzell and Devon Galvin; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Richard E. Boughner; and her brother, Joseph Hripko.
Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family suggests donations be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road, Canfield, OH 44406.
