Lewis P. Rotz 1929-2025

POLAND — Lewis Paul Rotz, 96, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, at The Inn at Poland Way.
He was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Youngstown, a son of the late Louis and Mary Louisa Sloan Rotz. He graduated from Lowellville High School and then proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he worked at several different places before retiring from the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District.
Lewis was a gentle and soft-spoken man, deeply rooted in his Christian faith. He read the Bible regularly and served as a deacon, living each day with humility, kindness and a strong moral compass.
To his family and friends, he was the embodiment of love and patience. He was a devoted husband, always sweet and attentive to his wife, making sure she felt cherished in every way. As a father, he was second to none — loving, supportive and deeply admired. His quiet strength and warm heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
In his spare time, he enjoyed the things that brought him peace and joy — golfing, bowling and playing cards. He was also an active member of VFW Struthers Post 247, where he found camaraderie and purpose among fellow veterans.
His life was marked by faith, kindness and devotion — a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of almost 75 years, the former Iris Jean Powell; his daughters, Cheryl (Louis) Mamula of Lowellville and Linda Rotz of Lakewood, Colorado; his grandchildren, Amanda Hoagland, Alyssa (Tyler) Walker, Adrienne Sepesy and Andrew (Ali) Mamula; great-grandchildren, Noah, Alex, Micah, Jayden, Rocco, Nolan, Emersyn, Roman and Jackson; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Charlie, Howard and Frank Rotz.
Per Lewis’ request, there will be no calling hours or services.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff and nurses at The Inn at Poland Way and Buckeye Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Lewis in his time of need.
