Brother Louis A. Petruska 1931-2025
PIFFARD, N.Y. — Brother Louis Adalbert Petruska, 93, of the Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard, New York, died Sunday, May 25, 2025.
He was predeceased by his parents, Aeza and Barbara Ann Petruska. He is survived by his cousin, Barbara Lias of Youngstown, and his fellow brothers at the Abbey of the Genesee. Brother Louis was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Youngstown, the son of Aeza Adalbert and Barbara Ann Minehart Petruska.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Brother Louis earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Education with a Specialization in Guidance. He was a high school mathematics teacher from 1963 to 1979. Brother Louis then devoted himself to the Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard on March 27, 1980.
A ceremony for the reception of Brother Louis’ body will be 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Abbey of the Genesee, where his Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
Burial will be in Abbey of the Genesee Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Abbey of the Genesee, 3258 River Road, Piffard, NY 14533.
