Anna Antonietta Pompeo 1938-2025

POLAND — Anna Antonietta Pompeo passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center, at the age of 86.
She was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Cervinara, Italy, a daughter of Mario Ernesto Vaccariello and the former Maria Giuseppina DeGregorio.
Anna emigrated to the United States on Nov. 9, 1955. After learning how to sew in Italy as a young child, she worked as a seamstress, spending over 33 years at Moyers Factory, the Garment Center and Richmond Brothers. In addition, Anna also provided alterations from her home.
Anna devoted herself to her children and our Blessed Mother. She taught CCD at Holy Family Parish for more than 30 years and was a cherished member of the church for over 50 years.
Her love of cooking her famous Italian sauce on Sundays for her family and listening to the Italian station while cooking will always be a wonderful family memory.
Anna was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pacentrano Club and credited Elvis for learning English. If you knew Anna, you knew she loved Elvis!
She married Joseph A. Pompeo on June 14, 1958; he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 2020.
Anna is survived by her two daughters, Gina (Donald) Kossick of Troy, Michigan, and Julie (Neal) Bell of Winter Spring, Florida; two sons, Albert (Darlene) Pompeo and Joseph (Lisa) Pompeo, both of Poland; sister, Maria Grazia (Robert) Lame of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Nicholas (Alexandra) Kossick, Maria (Stu) Kendall, Anna (Andrew) Reed, Sara Pompeo, Taylor Snipes, Michael Pompeo, Mark Pompeo, Stella Pompeo and Ava Bell; four great-grandchildren, twins Arianna and Anderson, and Ruth and Josephine.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Angelina Pacifico, Giuseppina Grosso, Crescenzo Vaccariello, Nicolina Giddings, Anthony Vaccariello and Principia Curtis.
Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025, and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, 2726 Center Road, Youngstown, OH 44514.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church, officiated by Msgr. William Connell. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
