Angela Ezzo 1928-2025

GIRARD — Angela Marie Ann Ambrose Ezzo, 96, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, at her son’s home, surrounded by her family.

Angela was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Frank Ambrose and Frances Scirrocco Ambrose. She was a graduate of Girard High School and a lifelong area resident.

Angela worked at her family’s grocery store, “The Green Store,” in Girard, and later at Sparkle Market. But her greatest passion was raising her four children, who were the center of her life.

Angela grew up as backyard neighbors with the man who would become her husband, Dominic Ezzo. She often said that love and happiness were found in her own backyard. Angela and Dominic were married Oct. 28, 1952, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2010.

Angela was a devoted member of St. Rose Church; her faith was front and center in how she lived her life. She was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Girard Council and cherished the friendships she formed while attending many state conferences with Dominic.

Angela loved to cook and bake and was an avid card player. She was especially fond of 500, poker and 31. She belonged to several card clubs with family and friends. She was also a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Indians and enjoyed watching or attending games whenever she could.

More than anything, Angela treasured time with her family. She wanted nothing more than to be with them, celebrating holidays, birthdays, vacations and the normal, everyday activities. She could be sitting on her porch with her kids, watching her grandkids play basketball, and in those moments, she believed she was the luckiest person on earth. And, in turn, her kids adored her; she was the center of their lives. Her love and strength were always evident, even through her final year of health challenges. She displayed remarkable strength, never complained and always expressed gratitude for the smallest of gestures.

Angela leaves behind her children, James Ezzo of Girard, Patricia (Tim) Myers of Poland, Marilyn (Joe) Pape of West Middlesex, Pa., and Michael (Miranda) Ezzo of Girard; and her eight grandchildren, Dominic, Danielle, Jordan, Michael, Taylor, Dominique, Natalie and Anthony, who will forever miss her hugs, kisses and special treats – pizzelles and cinnamon rolls – she always had them! Angela is also survived by her loving sister, Frances Messuri.

Her children leave you with these words, so fitting to their mom:

Our first sights were of her.

Our first words we heard were hers.

Our first steps were made in her teaching.

Our first memories were stained in her love.

Our present being exists because she guided us here.

Our last thought exists because she guided us here.

Our last thoughts will be, “Heaven is real, an Angel raised us.”

Family and friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 222 State St., Girard. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.
