Stephen J. Benedict 1939-2025
SANDUSKY — Stephen James Benedict, 85, formerly of Youngstown, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Stephen was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Youngstown, to the late Joseph S. Benedict and Josephine Nicoletti Carr.
A 1957 graduate of East High School in Youngstown, Stephen proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960.
He dedicated over 25 years of his career working at Sun Oil Company.
A passionate golfer, Stephen enjoyed playing the game with friends and found great joy in teaching his granddaughter, Alexa, and watching her develop her skills. He also loved playing cards, watching sports, and above all, cherishing time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Andrea Pinciaro Benedict; daughter, Deanna Tringhese of Columbiana; two sons, Joseph Benedict of Columbiana and Dr. Steven (Melanie) Benedict of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Alexa and Karissa Tringhese, and Steven and Gianna Benedict; brother, Dave Benedict of Kent; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A celebration of life will take place 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Caffe Capri, 8000 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
Burial will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
