Ross H. Kohler 1943-2025

POLAND — Ross H. Kohler, 82, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Born Feb. 27, 1943, in Youngstown, Ross is a son of the late Mark and Mildred Greenler Kohler.

A lifelong area resident of Springfield Township, Ross was an alumnus of Springfield Local High School. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Ross was a member of the Local 66 Operating Engineers for over 60 years. A devoted man to God, Ross was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Boardman, as well as the New Middletown Farm and Sportsman Club.

In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, hunting and a good auction. He was always proud of the large vegetable garden he grew, providing many delicious tomatoes and peppers to his family. You could often find him attending and supporting many of the sporting events at Springfield Local.

Ross is survived by his sister, Ruth Root of New Middletown; and brother, Mark Kohler Jr. of Sebring; nephews, Ed (Jill) Geidner of Grove City, John (Cheryl) Geidner of New Wilmington and James (Marlen) Howard of Fort Mill, South Carolina; nieces, Judy (Eric) Howard-Benninghoff of Bessemer, Pa., Elizabeth (Warren) Black of New Castle, Pa., and Dr. Suzanne “Sue” Shaw of Petersburg; as well as a close friend of the family, Tim Tusek.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Howard.

Calling hours will be 3 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, with a service to follow at 5 p.m., at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
