William N. Holcomb Jr. 1942-2025

POLAND — William Norton “Bill” Holcomb Jr., 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley.

Bill was born to the late William N. Holcomb Sr. and Martha Hughes Holcomb.

He graduated from Rayen High School in 1960, where he met his wife, the former Judith Ciccotelli. They were married Nov. 10, 1961.

Bill was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, where he served as a fireman in the United States Air

Force for four years. He then spent 30 years at General Motors, from where he retired.

Prior to the Air Force, he was a butcher for A&P Grocery and worked at Syro Steel in Girard.

Our father had the biggest heart. He was a member of Primitive Methodist Church, where he was an usher. He volunteered to help parishioners fix their homes and also volunteered his time at the rescue mission.

He had a passion for fixing classic cars. One in particular was a 1937 Buick, where he took “Best of Show” and was awarded for the best paint job.

He was a big fan of the Cleveland Indians / Guardians and also had a love for all classic movies.

Bill was preceded in death by his siblings, Ted, Paul, Tom, Jackie and Cheryl.

Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judith Holcomb, whom he cherished. He loved his children and their spouses, Michele (Doug) Helmick, Deedee (David) Rapone, Kim (Tony) Snovak and Billy (Karen) Holcomb. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Per Bill’s request, a private family service took place Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025. Bill was laid to rest in Lake Park Cemetery.
