Joann L. Barringer 1942-2025
BOARDMAN — Joann L Barringer, 82, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025. at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.
Born May 19, 1942, in Youngstown, she was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Theresa Austrino Martin.
Joann was a 1960 graduate of Chaney High School. She went on to obtain her certificate from Youngstown School of Cosmetology.
On May 6, 1964, she married the love of her life, Jack. The two shared 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2020.
She worked for many years at Pierre’s Salon and later at Inglis Greenhouse (now Lutz Greenhouse), and also provided compassionate care in home health services.
Joann oversaw the many class reunions for Chaney High School. You would often find her cruising around town in her grey convertible with her “Joz Ryde” license plate.
Being a mom and “JoJo” was one of her joys in life. She was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest supporter when it came to their sports and activities.
Joann is survived by her children, Brad (Lindy) Barringer of Salem, Ryan Barringer of Boardman and Amber Barringer; grandchildren, Brianna, Brooke, Brandon, Bryce and Bella; great-grandchild, Rory; sister-in-law, Sharon (Tony) Abanese; brother-in-law, Ric (Dr. Mary Ellen) Barringer; brother-in-law, Bill Miller; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends, including Joni Edgar and Jeri Lariccia. She will also be missed by her four-legged baby, Cooper.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gerri Miller, and stepmother, Dee Martin.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
