Phyllis DiPiero 1925-2024
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — Phyllis DiPiero was born March 22, 1925, to her loving parents, Cosimo and Louise DeRose Santillo, and passed away peacefully at her home, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024.
Phyllis was one of 12 children and graduated from East High School in Youngstown in 1944. Upon graduation, she worked for the railroad during World War II.
Phyllis married Frank P. DiPiero on April 23, 1947, and had two children. They made their home in Liberty Township.
Upon the death of Frank in 2000, Phyllis moved to Poland to live with her daughter, Diane, and her son-in-law, Robert. In 2016, they moved to Port St. Lucie.
Phyllis was a member of First Christian Assembly in Liberty Township for most of her life. When she moved to Poland, she attended Poland United Methodist Church. After she moved to Florida, she attended Sunlight Community Church. Phyllis also did volunteer work for a Port St. Lucie organization, Grace Packs, which provides food to school children on weekends.
Phyllis leaves behind two children, her son, Frank, and his wife, Jeanne Leardi DiPiero; her daughter, Diane, and son-in-law, Atty. Robert Budinsky; a grandson, Dr. Robert Budinsky, and his wife, Rachel Black Budinsky; and a sister, Louise Dyer, and her husband, Jack.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christine DiPiero; seven brothers, Marty, Louis, Dominic, Joseph, John, Cosmo and Paul Santillo; two sisters, Donna Benigas and Julie Santillo; and another brother, also named Dominic, who passed away in infancy.
Phyllis loved baking goodies for others, doing crossword puzzles and sharing her home with visitors. She had a great sense of humor and loved making people happy. She will be missed.
Family and friends may call 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. in Poland. There will be a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas Dyer officiating. Interment will take place in Belmont Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting material tributes take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in memory of Phyllis.
