Jack E. Evans 1954-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Jack E. Evans, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on June 22, 1954, in Youngstown, a son of the late Evan and Rosella Ola Evans.
He graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1972 and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Jack was a tool-and-die maker for several companies in the area before going to Northern States Metals in Austintown, retiring in 2016.
He was a devoted husband, brother and friend to everyone he encountered. He loved traveling, especially to Mexico, as well as camping, sailing, scuba diving, hunting and fishing. For over 20 years, Jack and his wife, Linda, welcomed rescue dogs into their home.
Jack is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Linda S. Mochtyak, whom he married on May 14, 1983; a sister, Sharon A. (Gary) Winslow of Youngstown; and his two rescued dogs, Eddie and Rocky.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Jack’s life at a later date.
