Bruce A. Davis 1948-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Bruce Allen Davis, 76, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, just 11 days after the passing of his beloved wife, Gwendolyn.

Born Sept. 25, 1948, in Youngstown, Bruce was the son of the late Charles A. and Charlotte Morningstar Davis. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Chaney High School before serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He later earned bachelor’s degrees from Youngstown State University and dedicated his career to education, teaching math in various Youngstown City Schools, ultimately retiring from Chaney High School in 2011.

Bruce was passionate about sports, participating in various bowling and golf leagues, and he proudly held a third-degree black belt in tae kwon do. Known for his generous spirit, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Above all, Bruce cherished time with his family, finding joy in spoiling his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Gwendolyn McMahan, whom he married Sept. 19, 1974.

He is survived by his two sons, Mark A. (Nicole) Davis of Saint Maarten and Charles L. (Lacy) Davis of Austintown; five grandchildren, Lucas, Noelle, Tyler, Fiona and Zachary; and his brother, Dale R. (Debbie) of Montana.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patty Ann Davis.

A celebration of life service for Bruce and Gwendolyn will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, where friends may call for one hour prior to the service.
