Mark A. Mancuso 1952-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Unexpectedly and sadly, Mark A. Mancuso, 71, passed away at his home, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024.

He was the first of four sons born to Gene “Red” and Joyce Luther Mancuso, on Oct. 5, 1952.

Mark grew up across from Mill Creek Park, attended St. Christine Grade School and played baseball for both the Mill Creek Junior Baseball and Pony Leagues, and played football for the Kirkmere Kleeners. At Chaney High School, Mark played center and was the team’s punter. He led the City Series in punting average his senior year. He lettered as the punter for the YSU football team in 1971 and coached 13-15-year-old boys’ baseball in the Babe Ruth League at Borts Field in the mid and late 1970s.

Mark worked initially for the Tamarkin Company as a warehouse worker, and then for Giant Eagle Grocery Stores at the Pittsburgh main warehouse as a driver, and later was a director of driver training until his retirement.

Throughout his adult life, Mark enjoyed driving his Corvettes, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and listening to music. He was a warm and caring man who possessed a wicked sense of humor. He was an avid fan of the YSU Penguins, Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns, and he was a donor and supporter of the Republican Party.

He is survived by his lifetime partner, Sharon Laws; son, Matthew; daughter, Becky (fiance, Davey Krellner); daughter, Anna (Drew) Moser; grandson, Cam Mancuso; and a grandson due to arrive the first week of December. He also leaves brothers, Van (Janet) Mancuso of Naples, Florida, Dan of Austintown and Dave (Julie) of Tampa, Florida; along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark will be deeply missed by his family and close friends.

Calling hours and services were held Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
