DoorDash driver attacked by dog while delivering food

LIBERTY — A DoorDash driver was attacked by a dog while making a food delivery early Monday.

Liberty police received a call at 12:32 a.m. Monday for an unknown problem because of a language barrier between the caller and 911 dispatchers.

Officer Brian Delia was dispatched to Park Circle where they found the driver, Mehmet Coskun, with torn pants, bite marks and blood on his right leg, according to a police report.

Coskun told Delia the dog, a male pitbull mix, ran out of the customer’s home and attacked him when someone opened the door to bring the food inside.

One of the residents of the customer’s house, said the dog was not his, but belonged to his mother. The dog attacked a UPS driver prior to this incident, according to the man, who lives at the house where the delivery was made.

He also said there was a “beware of dog” sign in the living room window of the residence.

Sgt. Jim Marco and officer Thomas Martin arrived later at the scene as well as the Liberty Township Fire Department. The fire department attempted to treat Coskun, but he declined and decided to go to the hospital instead, the report states.

The Trumbull County Dog Warden was notified of the incident.
