Sophie Helen Pupino 1931-2024

Born on March 3, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of Michael and Mary Gayan Tomaskovic.

Sophie was a graduate of Chaney High School. She spent her life as a dedicated homemaker to her family.

She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church and the church’s bowling league.

Sophie had a passion for crocheting and baking. She found happiness in visiting casinos and cherished winters spent in Florida alongside her late husband, James Vincent Pupino.

Sophie exchanged vows with James Vincent Pupino on May 15, 1954. Their love stood the test of time until his passing on Aug. 9, 2019.

Sophie is survived by her daughter, Susanne (Gary) Kaczowka of Boardman; sons, James V. (Adria) Pupino Jr. of Austintown and Michael Pupino of Winter Springs, Florida; three grandchildren, Angela (Tony) Kaczowka, James V. Pupino III and Emily (Alex) Kalamets.

Sophie was preceded in death by her siblings, Ann Pavel, Margaret Pavel, Mary Motter, Cecelia Chance, Michael Tomaskovic and John Tomaskovic.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.

Prayers will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon Monday, at St. Joseph Church, Austintown.
