P. Sandra Hunter 1935-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — P. Sandra Hunter was born to the late Francis and Arlee Sanders on Oct. 11, 1935, in Union County, South Carolina. Sandra, 88, was called by her Heavenly Father to eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 26, 2024.

Sandra was raised and attended school in Whitmire, South Carolina. She was joined in holy matrimony to Marvin F. Hunter Sr. and had three beloved children, Marvin F. Hunter Jr., Francine Jeffries and Zelda Darlene Hunter.

As a young family, Sandra followed her husband to Ohio and enjoyed many wonderful years in Youngstown.

Sandra accepted Christ Jesus at a young age and was an excellent steward of His gifts. She was a dedicated member of her church home and was involved in various ministries over the years serving Greater Friendship Baptist Church of Youngstown.

Sandra was a charter member of Al Asia Court #200 and Past Command Ross. She served as Worthy Matron and Treasurer of Rising Sun Chapter #82 and was an active member of Covenant Chapter #48. She also held a 50-year membership of Amaranth Grand Chapter O.E.S P.H.A for the state of Ohio and was a member of the Order of the Golden Circle Bezaleel Assembly #19.

Sandra leaves to cherish her memory, son, Marvin F. Hunter Jr. (Lee) of Youngstown; and daughter, Zelda Darlene Hunter of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Wally Kirk Sanders (Doris) of Union, South Carolina; nieces, Deiona Chick (Tyrone) and Brittany Sanders of Union, South Carolina; granddaughter, Stephanie Gaines (Sean) of Cleveland; grandson, Darrell Tucker (Krystal) of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-niece, Alayna; great-nephew, Jayden Chick; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Christian Gaines, and Noor and Noble Tucker; longtime devoted friends, Bertha Tate, Barbara James and Jackie Penny; and host of other dear family and close friends.

Sandra transcended to Heaven to join her loving husband, Marvin F. Hunter Sr. (1987); her daughter, Francine Jeffries (Tom); and grandsons, Avery Lane and Jonathan Drummond.

Sandra was laid to rest March 2, 2024, in Whitmire, South Carolina, where she is buried next to her husband in Sims Chapel Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Youngstown.
